Using supply chain data among publicly listed companies worldwide provided by FactSet, which includes both domestic and international supply chains, we can conduct a comprehensive and detailed analysis of the supply chain network among global listed companies at the country-enterprise dimension and on a temporal scale. Additionally, by integrating customs bill data from Panjiva for China and the United States, a more comprehensive supply chain network can be constructed.
The schematic representation of the global supply chain network is shown in the figure below, illustrating the four major clusters: Cluster 2 (transportation industry), Cluster 3 (manufacturing industry), Cluster 5 (financial industry), and Cluster 6 (services industry). Cluster 2 features prominent companies from the European Union (16.93%), the United States (15.66%), and China (10.27%). Cluster 3 also highlights companies from the European Union (23.18%), the United States (22.85%), and China (10.15%). Cluster 5 is predominantly led by companies from the United States (32.54%) and the European Union (25.33%). Cluster 6 is characterized by a majority of companies from the United States (50.62%) and a significant proportion from the European Union (18.42%).
