《Global Value Chain》

Textbook Introduction:

This textbook focuses on the core theme of global value chain development and China’s practice, divided into two complementary sections: the "Foundations" and "Applications." It systematically explains China's dynamic integration into international division of labor during the era of global value chains, along with the opportunities and challenges involved. The "Foundations" section focuses on tracing the historical context, development process, and key features of global value chain division. Through rich measurement indicators and typical case studies, it vividly illustrates the real-world performance and specific forms of global value chains to students. Correspondingly, the "Applications" section highlights China’s practical experience and challenges in integrating into international division of labor. Building on a systematic discussion of the drivers and economic effects of global value chains, this section delves deeper into topics from the perspectives of "Conjugate Circulation," "Low-End Lock-In," and "Domestic Value Chains."

The primary goal of this textbook is to help undergraduate students in international trade, international business, and related majors to understand the theory and practice of global value chains. It encourages in-depth learning about the determinants, operational mechanisms, and future trends of global value chains, with a special emphasis on China’s role and practice in their evolution.

This book is expected to be officially published in 2025, with Professor Lü Yue as the chief editor and ProfessornYu Xinding as the deputy editor.
