In May 2024, Professor Lyu Yue was invited to present at the China Open and Development Research Forum organized by the School of Economics at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, where she reported on "Trade Friction and Global Supply Chain Transfer."

In her presentation, Lyu Yue emphasized the critical importance of ensuring the security of industrial and supply chains in light of escalating external trade risks, which directly relates to high-quality development and the construction of a modern industrial system. The paper utilized the enterprise-level global supplier-customer relationship data from the FactSet Revere database (2017-2019) and employed a difference-in-differences method to investigate the effects of China-US trade friction on global supply chain transfers. The findings indicated that trade friction leads American enterprises to gradually reduce cooperation with China, likely due to the dual effects of profit and risk. Meanwhile, "superstar" supply chain enterprises with higher R&D levels and more suppliers experienced relatively less impact. The trade friction accelerated the trend of supply chains towards "localization" and "safety," a trend that is increasingly evident.
